Lakeside School is proudly celebrating its 25th anniversary, marking a remarkable journey from a small primary provision to a thriving all-through specialist school supporting children and young people aged five to 16.
Founded on the powerful belief that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed in a nurturing environment, the school has spent the last 25 years delivering life-changing support to pupils and their families.
Vicky Size, Head Teacher, said:
“We are incredibly proud of the life-changing impact we have had on more than 250 pupils. From opening our doors to just five pupils in 2001, we have grown into a thriving all-through specialist school, while remaining committed to providing a nurturing environment where every pupil can flourish.”
Supporting pupils' emotional well-being has always been central to the school's approach. Lakeside School has developed an extensive therapeutic support model, providing direct in-school access to a multidisciplinary Clinical Services Team, including an art therapist, counsellor, clinical psychologists, assistant psychologists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists.
Parents and pupils alike sing the school's praises for its outstanding support and the strong sense of community that is impossible to miss.
Elizabeth and Matthew, parents of Conor, age 10 , started Lakeside in September 2025, said:
"The difference in my son is unbelievable, he is so much calmer, loving school and learning again and taking part in group activities and is in every lesson "
Katherine, mum of Oliver, echoed:
“Since Olly started Lakeside, he has absolutely thrived. All staff, I’ve found are highly knowledgeable. We couldn’t ask for more. It is an amazing school."
Pupils also proudly shared their thoughts.
Danny, aged 10: "I really like the lunches, and all the teachers are kind and help us learn." age 10
Kendrick, age 9 : "I like coming to school because I get to play with my friends. I get to learn new things and do lots of fun things”
Beyond the classroom, the school community has also made a significant contribution to the wider community, supporting a range of local and national charities through fundraising and awareness initiatives. Organisations supported by the school community include local food banks, Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie, NSPCC, Save the Children, Asylum Link Merseyside and Comic Relief.
As Lakeside School enters its next chapter, it remains focused on empowering children and young people to achieve their potential, develop resilience and confidence, and build bright futures.
