Witherslack Group and The Money Charity Partner to empower pupils

14 APRIL 2026

We are delighted to announce a new partnership with The Money Charity, aimed at transforming the way pupils and students across Key Stage 4 and post-16 provisions learn about money.

This initiative is designed to equip our young people with the practical skills needed to manage money effectively, reducing anxiety and building confidence as they transition into employment and independent living.

The ‘Money Matters’ curriculum offers a suite of six specialised modules tailored for our  learners. These interactive sessions use relatable examples to demystify complex topics, including:

·        Getting Paid: Understanding payslips, taxes, and bank transactions.

·        Housing Know-How: Navigating the world of renting, mortgages, and independent living costs.

·        Smart Spending: Mastering budgeting, identifying needs vs wants, and becoming a savvy consumer.

This new partnership complements our existing offer, where currently, all pupils and students across our Witherslack Group access the Futures programme, which connects them with their next steps beyond education. Through a network of over 350 employer partnerships, including Microsoft, Mercedes-Benz, and John Lewis, young people benefit from outstanding workplace experiences, ongoing opportunities, and lifelong support.

Ali Gibney, Head of Futures, commented:

“Being able to manage money is a vital life skill, and this partnership is another way we are preparing our young people for their futures. We are determined to help close the unemployment gap, particularly as nearly one million young people aged 16–24 in the UK are currently not in education, employment or training (NEET), according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics.”

“By providing inclusive and practical pathways into employment and independent living, we aim to ensure our young people leave our classrooms with the skills and confidence they need to thrive.”

Stephanie Fitzgerald, Director of Financial Education from The Money Charity said:

“Money skills are vital to living a healthy and happy life. Young peoples’ ability to manage their money well and feel in control of it will impact the things they can do, their relationships, their mental health and much more. And research shows that young people themselves see the value. 80% of teenagers say they want to learn more about money. That’s why we’re delighted that Witherslack group have partnered with us and invested in ensuring that their pupils receive vital financial education”.
