Cedar House School hosts inspiring Heroes Event

08 MAY 2026

Cedar House School recently welcomed local primary schools for a hugely successful Heroes Event, bringing together pupils from across the region for a day of sport, leadership and community partnership.

The event was organised by Nick Crosby, Head of PE,  who worked closely with Year 11 to create an inclusive and engaging multi-sports experience for visiting schools. Drawing on leadership training and development opportunities provided through the school’s partnership with the Cruyff Foundation, the event focused on inspiring young people through teamwork, confidence and positive role modelling.

Primary schools attending the event included Arkholme Church of England Primary School, Bentham Community Primary School, Wray Endowed Church of England Primary School and Milnthorpe Primary School.

Ahead of the tournament, the team and pupils visited participating schools to deliver sports sessions to Year 3 pupils and build relationships before the event.

On the day, pupils took part in football, tag rugby and golf activities, with the Year 11 Heroes supporting visiting schools, refereeing the  matches, presenting the awards and helping host the event, demonstrating professionalism, maturity and leadership throughout the day.

Feedback from the schools was overwhelmingly positive, with teams praising the organisation of the event. They highlighted the professionalism, politeness and leadership of the Year 11 pupils, describing them as a credit to the school and noting how well they embraced their responsibilities. Overall, the event was described as a highly enjoyable and well-organised experience that provided a valuable opportunity for pupils across all schools involved.

Nick proudly commented:

“This event was all about giving young people the opportunity to lead, support others and experience sport in a positive and inclusive environment. Seeing our Year 11 pupils step up with such confidence and maturity, while engaging so positively with primary school pupils, was incredibly rewarding. We are proud of the partnerships we are building with local schools and look forward to developing this event further in the years to come.”
