A big warm welcome to our website

At Felden Hall, we believe that every child deserves to feel a sense of belonging, purpose and possibility. Our community is built on strong, supportive relationships where pupils are known, valued and encouraged to be their very best.

Curiosity sits at the heart of our learning. Through personalised learning and rich, meaningful experiences, we nurture a lifelong love of learning that extends far beyond the classroom. We inspire our pupils to explore and discover the joy of engaging with the world around them. Our curriculum is underpinned by the overarching themes of holistic development and personal excellence, ensuring that every learning opportunity supports the growth of confident, capable and well-rounded young people.

Respect is the foundation of how we treat one another and how we celebrate individuality. We champion each child’s unique strengths and help them develop the confidence, empathy and resilience needed to thrive both in school and in life.

Aims and ethos

We are committed to providing our pupils with a caring, positive and welcoming learning environment for them to achieve their full potential in their education and develop their social communication skills.

It is our aim to nurture, guide and encourage all of our pupils in an innovative and creative atmosphere, preparing them for their next steps on their educational journey and to be the best version of themselves.

Frequently asked questions about our school

We have a warm, inclusive community where every child, adult and family feels a genuine sense of belonging. Our community is rooted in strong, trusting relationships that ensure pupils are known, valued and supported as individuals. Children to feel safe to express themselves, confident to take risks and proud of who they are.

In our community, collaboration thrives, pupils learn with and from each other, families are welcomed as partners, and our team works collectively to ensure every child can flourish. Together, we have built a place where everyone feels connected, capable and inspired.

Clinical support is the specialist therapeutic input provided to help pupils understand, manage and regulate their emotions, behaviour and sensory needs. This may include support from therapists in disciplines, such as speech and language, occupational therapy, educational psychology, and other wellbeing professionals. At school, this support is implemented through regular assessments and personalised strategies. The team work closely with clinicians to embed recommendations into everyday classroom practice.

The school broadly follows the national curriculum, adapting it to meet pupil’s individual needs. Lessons are accessible, nurturing and flexible, ensuring pupils can engage at the right level and make meaningful progress. Alongside this, there are vocational opportunities for pupils as they move through the school. These include practical learning pathways, accredited vocational courses, life‑skills development and opportunities to experience work‑related learning. Our aim is to equip pupils with the academic, practical and personal skills they need for their next steps into further education, training or employment.

Felden Hall School is designed to support a diverse cohort by creating a personalised, flexible learning environment where every child’s needs and communication style are understood and respected. We build strong relationships and gain a deep knowledge of each pupil, enabling the team to tailor teaching approaches, environments and interactions accordingly. Classrooms are structured to reduce barriers, promote independence and ensure every pupil can participate meaningfully. A culture of community, respect and curiosity ensures children learn from one another, celebrate differences and feel confident expressing themselves. This inclusive ethos allows every child to thrive, regardless of need or communication style.

We view behaviour as a form of communication, and we respond with empathy, consistency and a commitment to improving each child’s quality of life. We prioritise positive responses, deescalation and safe, respectful approaches that protect childrens dignity while reducing distress. Our focus is always on understanding the reasons behind behaviours rather than simply reacting to them.

The local authority (LA) sends a consultation to our admissions team, including your child’s EHCP and relevant reports. The team then decides whether we can meet your child’s needs. If it appears that all needs can be met, the admissions team will contact the LA and parents/carers to arrange a visit to the school. Following a successful school visit, a placement offer with a suggested start date will be sent to the LA. Upon acceptance, parents/carers will be advised, and a home visit will be arranged.
