Three Cruyff Courts officially open
Pupils and teams from Bescot Hall, Chilworth House Upper and Castlefell schools celebrated the official opening of their Cruyff Courts, developed in partnership with the Johan Cruyff Foundation.
The schools extended a warm welcome to the Cruyff Team as they inaugurated their Courts, with pupils showcasing their remarkable talent and impeccable teamwork on the pitch, which was met with tremendous excitement and celebration.
The Foundation supports and develops impactful sports and play projects in more than 20 countries worldwide. This initiative also helps support children with special needs by creating safe spaces where they can practice a variety of sports, enabling them to grow, make friends and help improve their physical and mental well-being.
Michelle Johnson, Head Teacher from Chilworth House Upper School, commented:
‘The Cruyff Court has provided a sense of community and pride. The Cruyff values have supported pupil leadership, and we are so proud of the inclusive culture that has developed since having it. Every day our young people use the court with passion, pride and joy.’
Wendy Yeo, Castlefell School Head Teacher, commented:
‘The Cruyff Court is an area where our three school values are brought to life: Connection, Courage and Compassion.’
Shane Rowe, Bescot Hall School Head Teacher, commented:
‘Pupils enjoy playing sports on the Cruyff Court. They look forward to using this for social time and enrichment as well as PE lessons. It has been a vital part of our school community, building on the values and skills of respect and teamwork.’
The Courts serve as a hub for physical and social development, allowing pupils to engage in team-based activities that promote cooperation, resilience, and confidence. This partnership has enhanced the schools’ commitment to offering well-rounded educational experiences and encourages the development of friendships and life skills that extend beyond the playing field.
This is yet another example of how pupils across our Group are offered opportunities to ignite their curiosity in trying new activities and cultivating their interests.
A big well done to everyone involved.
