Children, young people and teams across WG celebrated World Book Day. Pupils and teams dressed as their favourite characters and took part in an array of activities, celebrating the world of literature.
At Avon Park School, scenes from famous tales came to life as pupils donned impressive costumes on a backdrop of the wonderful world of storybooks.

Over at Bescot Hall School, the day was filled with imagination as everyone brought the magic of books into every corner of their learning environment.

Cedar House School hosted a Masked Reader competition, where the team read extracts from well‑known books while hidden behind masks. Intuitive pupils were tasked with guessing who each reader was, encouraging the avid bookworms to tune in carefully to voices, clues, and reading styles.

The celebrations continued at Cheshire Hall School, where everyone showcased their imaginative costumes.

Chilworth House Upper School also joined in the celebrations, welcoming a cast of memorable characters for the day. Among them were figures inspired by The Traitors, as well as some familiar Minecraft villagers, adding plenty of fun and laughter to the occasion.

Dovetree School also enjoyed a fantastic day of celebrations. Throughout the day, pupils worked together on a variety of activities, including story writing, a ‘shelfie’ quiz, costume competitions, bookmark making, book ‘tasting’, and quizzes.

The team at Hartwell School transformed into timeless heroes and modern icons, bringing their favourite characters to life.
Lakeside School marked the day with a variety of reading-themed activities. Primary pupils shared their favourite books, enjoyed a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-themed treasure hunt, and created book covers using Canva. Meanwhile, Secondary pupils were entertained by famous stories set to rap music and took part in the "Masked Reader" challenge.

At Oversands School, pupils met in their house groups to enjoy a shared story before taking part in a range of themed activities, including story continuation challenges, author fact files, and creative artwork inspired by key characters and settings.

Finally, at The Eaves Learning Centre, the team fully embraced the spirit of the day with imaginative costumes of storybook favourites. Their creativity helped inspire a love of reading and encouraged pupils to celebrate the joy and adventure found in books.
