Redefining education

We don't just educate; we nurture support and propel our pupils towards a future where their potential knows no bounds. Join us on a transformative journey, where education extends beyond textbooks, therapy nurtures resilience, and futures are shaped with purpose and promise.

Love of learning

At Bramley Hill School, our bespoke curriculum allows us to deliver learning that is accessible, engaging, and packed with adventure and discovery through educational visits and field trips to support and enhance learning experiences.

Our commitment to a well-rounded education includes a focus on social development. Through enrichment activities that promote collaboration, friendship, social interaction, and teamwork, pupils build interpersonal skills, empowering them to navigate relationships, contribute meaningfully to their communities, and succeed in diverse environments. We take pride in focusing on friendships and a strong sense of community. By doing so, children and young people learn to appreciate diverse perspectives and support one another, contributing to a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Young people leave us with nationally recognised outcomes at a level that is right for them, ranging from entry-level certificates to functional skills awards, BTECs and GCSEs. This equips them to confidently take their next steps into further education, apprenticeships or employment.

Our outstanding offer

Enrichment is a key part of our pupils’ experience, providing diverse opportunities for personal growth. Every Friday afternoon, we have Wellbeing Time, where pupils choose to participate in a variety of clubs. To supplement this experience, they also take part in weekly community engagement sessions, such as work experience at a local farm, dog groomers and other local businesses. We are deeply connected to our local community. Pupils engage in life-skills development through visits to local shops, cafes and woodlands; we also encourage community responsibility with litter-picking projects both on-site and in the village. Our pupils participate in activities such as swimming, gymnastics and karate at the leisure centre, and we regularly invite external instructors for African drumming, circus skills, and dance workshops. Additionally, we host an annual theatre production and support cultural diversity through various events. These experiences not only help pupils explore various career paths and job roles, but also build aspirations and confidence by exposing them to the wider world beyond school.

We focus on the future of each young person. We do this by helping them discover a love of learning through our topic-based curriculum, which is purposeful and linked to real life. For example, in Key Stage 1, ‘Rio’ introduces pupils to the Rio Carnival, celebrating foods, stories and traditions from Brazil, while the ‘Invaders and Settlers’ project in Key Stage 2 culminates in a recreation of a Norman drawbridge and develops pupils’ understanding of the lives of people who lived a long time ago. Another example hails from ‘Moon Zoom’ in Key Stage 3, where pupils get to explore journeys to space and pioneers such as Neil Armstrong or Tim Peake, igniting curiosity in science and technology. The creative approaches are achieved by using the experience, enthusiasm and specialism of individual teachers who provide interesting, engaging and differentiated lessons. Our curriculum focuses on developing the skills of pupils and providing enrichment sessions where they can experience new activities outside the classroom. Each term they access a timetable of the following:

• Outdoor education
• Forest School
• Cycling
• Swimming

Another way we prepare our pupils for the future is through work experience opportunities, whether it be in school or in the local community. Pupils can gain experience working with different departments within the school or the variety of businesses that operate locally. The purpose is to give them responsibility with the opportunity to have taster sessions across diverse roles so that they can start to map out their pathway for the future.

We encourage our pupils to exercise their democratic voice through the Student Parliament, where they actively share feedback and put forward suggestions to improve resources, teaching and learning experiences. There is a process we follow, which consists of two rounds of elections. The first is a class election and the second is a whole school election, where elected members work towards the coveted role of president and vice president by writing manifestos, participating in debates, giving speeches to and answering questions from an audience made up of their peers. The effort and planning instil a can-do attitude and, whether they win or not, they experience a real sense of achievement. Managing a sizeable budget, to date, the Student Parliament has introduced a diverse food menu for lunchtimes, a trampoline in the school grounds and the introduction of different colours for uniforms. Being part of a democratic voice empowers pupils, making them feel heard, and adds to their toolkit for building confidence, and it shows the importance of using their platform to make a real difference.

We celebrate awareness days, and religious and cultural festivals, to demonstrate the unique characteristics of the communities made up of different cultures that we live alongside in modern Britain. This also extends to learning about and celebrating each other, to be more accepting and, in turn, feel more empowered. While celebrating, it also creates a safe space to ask questions and break down stereotypes, helping pupils to embrace diversity and preparing them for the world outside of our school community.

Therapy

Our on-site Clinical Team provide pupils with unrivalled levels of therapeutic support, in terms of the level of expertise, the ratio of qualified therapists and clinicians to children and young people, and the range of therapies offered. Pupils have the support of our Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and other specialists as required.

We believe that unless a child or young person is able to feel emotionally safe and secure, they are less likely to fulfil their personal, social and educational potential. Our unique approach to supporting young people through our Wave Model enables them to go on to realise a future filled with aspiration and achievement.

Bramley Hill School's Clinical Team complete thorough and skilled assessments that support a shared understanding of the complex needs we see in our children and young people. This enables us to put purposeful and appropriate interventions in place and assess our effectiveness through the tracking of outcomes and impact.

Futures

At Bramley Hill School we are dedicated to raising the aspirations of our pupils, while also equipping them with the skills and confidence to realise outstanding outcomes.

The Futures programme inspires and connects pupils with their next steps beyond education, utilising a growing network of over 350 employer partnerships, including the likes of Microsoft, Mercedes and John Lewis, to provide outstanding experiences of the workplace and ongoing opportunities and support.

Our Futures sessions provide practical guidance on job applications, confidence-building, networking, and workplace expectations, giving children and young people the tools to navigate their career paths with clarity. Complementing this, our Futures curriculum enriches academic growth while developing personal development and career readiness, ensuring they are prepared for their chosen paths. With no upper age limit on support, the programme boasts a 100% success rate in transitioning students into education, employment, or training.
