Millcourt’s resident snail

19 March 2021

Hendrick the snail has been a resident of Millcourt School from the day the school opened its doors.

Paula Harris, Head Teacher explains why she is particularly fond of him.

Hendrick was laid as an egg from my grown-up ones at home.  I have brought him to school so that our pupils can learn about him, his diet, and the environment he needs to be in to thrive.

Hendricks’s hobbies and interests consist of taking long showers and mainly eating cucumber. Paula also unearthed an interesting fact on snails.

Did you know that they will sleep on and off in between periods of 13 to 15 hours? Afterward, they experience a sudden jolt of energy for the next 30 hours, so Hendrick can get all his  snail chores done!

We certainly learned something new there!

Hendrick chilling!
