Play a vital role to support and encourage

Create happy school memories

You’ll not only help our pupils achieve academically, you’ll also help in making them feel accepted and understood, increasing their confidence and self-esteem step by step.

The difference you make will be enormous – as a SEN Teaching Assistant you’ll be playing a big part in creating the best possible outcomes, but most importantly helping to create happy school memories for every pupil.

Working with us

We want experienced teaching assistants to join us, who are ready for the next step and the enhanced development opportunities that go with it.

You’ll be used to life in the classroom, up to date with welfare and safeguarding practices within education and qualified to at least NVQ level 2 (or equivalent).

You’ll have the ability to truly connect and build great relationships with all of our young people, so you can motivate them to do well and be the best that they possibly can be, whatever that may look like.

You’ll be someone who works well in a team environment and is also able to demonstrate resilience, so that our pupils know that they can depend on you to be there for them.  Your hard work and dedication will be rewarded with opportunities to progress and build a long term career with us.

A clear career path

We have 3 levels in our SEN Teaching Assistant teams: Level 2, Level 3 and Higher Level Teaching Assistants. All levels have clear progression paths.

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant you can be the catalyst for our young people’s progress and development.  As well as working with individuals, groups and classes, we’ll give you the chance to grow your own skills by taking on extra duties – planning meetings, working without supervision and helping teachers create brilliant learning activities.  With your specialist knowledge, you’ll be able to support and develop other teaching assistants too.

Where will it take you?

Becoming a Teaching Assistant is not the end of the road for your career here at WG. We support our employees to constantly train and develop their skills to be the very best at what they do.

Working together

You’ll be supported by and work closely with our therapists to ensure that each young person receives everything they need to achieve and develop, both inside and outside the classroom.   The Clinical Services Team delivers a combination of directly targeted work with our young people and will also provide you with ongoing advice, support and training.

We’ll be with you every step of the way, ensuring you and your class have all the support you need.  Our teachers, teaching assistants and Clinical Services Team all work in complete collaboration to ensure that everything is in place for our young people to thrive and engage with their learning.
