Mathtastic day!
Pupils and staff from Oakwood Learning Centre recently took part in Number Day to raise awareness and money for the NSPCC.
The maths-inspired fundraising event sees children and young people participate in many maths-related activities and are encouraged to make a donation and wear an item of clothing with a number on it.
The pupils at Oakwood took part in a range of activities, including an escape room, scavenger hunt, and a game of the popular TV show, ‘The Cube.’ The escape room was enjoyed by everyone, which had a mad scientist theme where they had to escape within 35 minutes to stop a nuclear reactor from going into meltdown.
One pupil described the morning as:
"A fun, challenging experience."
This was the first time they took part in the event and judging by its success, the staff plan to add this to their calendar for next year.
