Westmorland School is a primary school for up to 32 boys and girls with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties and associated learning needs. We aim to equip children with the skills to succeed, building their self-esteem and confidence. We help children to learn more effectively by using a variety of teaching and learning styles and promoting independent learning.

"I feel my son has improved in all aspects since starting at Westmorland; emotionally, psychologically and educationally. I now have back the child I knew at age 5, who was happy, lively, inquisitive, confident and alive. I can't thank you enough for bringing this back when I thought it was gone forever".

Rugby Star Gives Westmorland a Try

It was scrum down at Westmorland School when a former international rugby player dropped in for its open day.
Ex England player, Paul Sculthorpe was the guest of honour at the special school in Chorley which was holding the event to mark its 10th anniversary.

Westmorland School is a primary day school catering for boys and girls with behavioural, emotional and associated learning needs. It is one of nine schools and four children’s homes run by The Witherslack Group.

Sue Asher, head teacher at Westmorland School, said: “We were thrilled that Paul  could be a part of our 10th anniversary celebrations and the pupils thoroughly enjoyed a rugby skills workshop which they hosted while they were here.

“It was also fantastic to see so many of our former pupils and teachers at the event who enjoyed seeing how the school has changed over the past ten years.

“The day was a great success and guests enjoyed a range of activities including circus skills, drama sketches, an award presentation and a BBQ .”
