Pontville School is a co-educational day and residential school for children and young people between the ages of 7 – 19.  We meet the needs of pupils who have a range of Social Communication Difficulties and associated learning difficulties.  The school is located in the historic market town of Ormskirk in Lancashire.

Pontville School - Admissions Procedure

Pontville School is DCSF registered to cater for 90 young people, between the ages of 5 and 19.
Parents, Local Authorities and other Children’s Services are welcome to visit the school to look at our provision and initiate an interest in placement at the school.

Admissions Procedure

 

We have a formal admissions procedure, usually initiated by the local authority. 
Informal visits are welcomed by all interested parties.  Please contact the school directly if you would like to arrange a visit.
Following visits to the school and brief induction days a young person begins an extensive assessment placement which provides a full assessment of need and advice relating to provisional requirements.

Range of Needs

The school caters for the primary area of need relating to Social Communication Difficulties, this includes a range of conditions such as:

  •  Asperger’s Syndrome
  • Autistic Spectrum Disorder
  • Semantic Pragmatic Disorder
  • Speech and Language Impairment

Learning difficulties may also be associated with these conditions and the school caters for a wide range of cognitive abilities.
