Lakeside School caters for children with complex learning and communication difficulties.  The school adopts a holistic approach towards children and provides a high level of quality education and care. We seek to provide a broad, balanced and stimulating curriculum, in order to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of the pupils. This also prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.

“I feel 100% confident that my son is in the best place possible for him and he loves it. I will never fully be able to express my full gratitude to you, for helping him belong somewhere.”

Parents Area Information for Lakeside School

What is the primary SEN that Lakeside School caters for?

Primary SEN: ASD, BESD, SLCD, ADHD

What is a statement of Special Educational Need?

A statement of special educational needs (SEN) sets out your child's needs and the help they should have. It is reviewed annually to ensure that any extra support given continues to meet your child's needs.

Will you be able to cater for my child’s needs?

Once we meet your child, speak to you, and read all of the relevant paperwork, we will assess the level of support your child will need in order to meet their needs in all areas of their development.

Who do I need to call to arrange a visit to the school?

To arrange a visit to Lakeside, call 0151 487 7211 and a member of the administrative staff will be pleased to help you.

Will I be involved in my child’s education?

All pupils at Lakeside School are provided with regular homework activities which we may ask you to support your child with. A home-school diary is filled in and sent home every day to inform you of your child’s performance for that day and to give you the opportunity to inform school of how your child has behaved at home. You will be involved in all Annual and Interim Review meetings where your child’s education is discussed and where your views will be considered. There is an annual parents’ evening during the Spring term and we invite parents to attend Christmas productions, fund-raising events and our annual Sports Day.

How do I make a complaint about your school?

Our Complaints Policy can be found on this website, in the Policies section.

Can I speak to someone informally about my child?

You are very welcome to talk informally about your child to a member of our Senior Management Team.

When is your school’s open day/sports day/parents evening?

Our parents evening is held in the spring term and our open day and sports day are held in the summer term. See our School Calendar for further details of specific dates.

How does the admissions process work?

Our Policy on Referrals and Admissions (see Policies section) details the admissions process.

I have been called to a review meeting. What will happen and who else will be present?

Review meetings are held to discuss the progress that your child is making, to highlight any possible amendments to their Statement of Special Educational Needs, and to discuss the suitability of your child’s school placement. At a review meeting, those present would also include, the Head Teacher, or Deputy Head, representatives from the Local Authority, and other interested parties who may be involved in your child’s education and development.

Welcome to Lakeside School
