Incident Recording Database

Occasionally in Education and Care settings, staff may find themselves dealing with incidents of challenging behaviour exhibited by the children and young people.

In order to safeguard both the children and young people and the staff, it is vital that an accurate record of every incident is kept.

In partnership with the Witherslack Group, we have developed a comprehensive web based system for recording major incidents (the Incident Report Database, IRD).

The IRD is fully compliant with current legislation, meets the requirements of OfSTED and the Care Standards Act and can encompass a particular system of behaviour management, such as Team Teach.

It allows incidents to be recorded securely on any computer attached to the internet; once completed, the report is ‘locked’ into the system and cannot be edited or tampered with.

Because the IRD system is a database, managers can monitor and evaluate incidents over time and create reports based upon a number of search criteria. This will allow them to identify trends, ‘hotspots’, training needs etc., so that they can establish good practice and plan for change that may lead to a reduced frequency of incidents in their establishment. The IRD system is comprehensive, easy to use and can be bespoke to each establishment (for example, names of locations and types of hold being used).
