Cumberland School is a day school for girls and boys aged 11-16 who have behavioural, emotional, social and associated learning difficulties, which can hinder their academic progress. The school aims to provide a quality secondary curriculum to young people who need a more specialised environment in order to meet their potential academic and social development.

"Students benefit from very small class sizes in the amount of individual attention they receive and in being able to demonstrate what they know and can do".

Praise from Ofsted

Cumberland School has been praised for its quality of education and facilities in a recent Ofsted report. The school, which caters for secondary school pupils aged 11 to 16, has also been credited for the good relationships between students and staff and the provision for additional support and therapy where needed.

Martin Hayhurst, Head Teacher at Cumberland School, said: “I am absolutely delighted with the results of this inspection and see it as a real achievement given that we have only been open for 15 months.”

“The staff deserve to be recognised for their hard work and enthusiasm and we hope to build on this success in the future.”
