Chilworth Open Day

The new Chilworth Upper School celebrates its first Open Day (1st July 2010).

The boys worked hard preparing the school for this special occasion. Their subject course work was proudly placed on display in their respective classrooms for parents and visitors to view. Teaching Assistants also worked hard to ensure that a spread of pupil course work was displayed on notice boards around the school which again gave our guests a good insight into the quality of teaching and learning occurring in the school.

The pupils were keen to show our visitors that their school was a dynamic, vibrant establishment that offered a broad and balanced curriculum. This was achieved by a series of pictures shown on interactive whiteboards in each classroom. Vocational and recreational aspects to our curriculum were depicted on interactive whiteboards. For example, climbing, abseiling, the Leap of Faith, Jacobs Ladder, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, Forest Schools, TRAX, Skids and link activities with other local schools.

Outside in our extensive grounds pupils were able to show off their skills at riding BMX bikes on our purpose built track, table tennis, pool, and football.

The day was a great success, enjoyed by all and the strawberries and cream gave the event a  Wimbledon  feel. It was felt that our guests left with a good insight into the school’s provision and what is achieved by our pupils.
