Chilworth House School is a co-educational day special school, catering for Key Stage 1, 2 and 3 pupils. Situated in a rural environment on the outskirts of Oxford. Pupils will primarily have complex educational needs, communication difficulties & challenging behaviours. We have taken ownership of our curriculum, with the cross-curricular model built upon a series of core values.

"Both my husband and I love the school, it has a wonderful warmth to it as soon as you walk through the door. We just knew that our son would achieve so much there and for the first time we felt the fog lifting".

Chilworth House School – Pastoral Care

The care of pupils at Chilworth House School is paramount to the ethos of the school.

As part of the Witherslack Group of Schools our philosophy is based on the ‘Resilience Theory’ within the framework of 5 critical objectives.
    •    ‘Unconditional acceptance’ of the pupil as a person, whatever the disability.
    •    Developing the capacity to discover meaning in life.
    •    Promoting the skills and feeling of having some control over what happens in life.
    •    Promoting self esteem and self confidence.
    •    Developing and maintaining a sense of humour.

This is combined with the 5 outcomes identified in ‘Every Child Matters’
    •    Be healthy
    •    Stay safe
    •    Enjoy and achieve
    •    Make a positive contribution
    •    Achieve economic well being

To help the care of the pupils they will all have an Individual Care & Education Plan as well as an Individual Behaviour Management Plan.

There is a Head of Care who ensures that the well-being of the pupils is constantly reviewed and developed.
